Enclosures and Bimini Top Projects
Rinker: Fiesta Vee 270
The customers wanted to replace their boat's aft curtain with a camper top and enclosure for more comfort and space for the entire boating season on Northern Michgan's Inland Waterway. We bent a new, 7/8" stainless steel 2 bow frame aft, and made a top extension out of Sunbrella that attached to the existing bimini. The new side and aft curtains were made with .030 roll glass, fitted with screens and u-zip openings. Openings roll down with double zipper pulls to allow for a full range of opening options. After the enclosure was used a few times, the walk through panel was modified by our canvas shop to have Sunbrella instead of glass on the lower half.
Rinker: Captiva 212
This jockey red Sunbrella bimini was made as a replacement on an existing frame. The bimini was patterned indoors in Harbor Springs, Michigan during the boating off season and is one part of a suit of canvas, including cockpit cover, bow cover, and boot for the bimini. We make all of our biminis with zippered pockets for easy installation and removal.
Travel and Mooring Covers
Boston Whalers
Mooring covers are designed to be used while the boat is in the water, on a hoist, or stored on a trailer with the primary function of sun and water protection. Travel covers add the ability to be towed at high speeds, and therefore are tight enough to withstand high winds.

Wherry
A wherry is a type of rowing boat whose roots trace back to old English water taxis. The rowing supports reach beyond the typical cover zones and the customer chose to leave it exposed for simplicity. The main function for this cover is to keep leaves and debris out of the boat, but this design still provides a great amount of rain protection during its storage in Northern Michigan. The open areas allowed us to choose a less expensive fabric since breatheability wasn't an issue.
Cockpit and Bow Covers
Aquasport: 215 Explorer
The primary advantage of a cockpit cover is that it's easy to secure at the dock. A nice, tight fit can be made using snaps and its easier to put on from inside the boat.
Cockpit covers may end at the top of the windshield, or continue over the windshield as this replacement cover was sewn. All of the existing snap studs on the boat were used so no new holes needed to be drilled in the boat.
Many cockpit covers are used as travel covers, which is fine in many cases as they are tight enough to withstand high wind speeds.
We always reinforce the fabric at the top of the windshield and at all other fittings and high wear spots.
Rinker: Captiva 232
Dual cockpit and bow cover option. They are separate covers so the boat can be used with bow cover still in place, if desired. The cockpit cover was designed to go over the windshield and securely attaches to bow cover with velcro.
Marine Upholstery
Tiara Aft Seats
The marine upholstery on this Harbor Springs Tiara was a straightforward re-skin. The cushions could all be removed for work over the winter while the boat was in storage. The project was further simplified because the foam under the fabric was in good shape. The customer chose to alter the fabric appearance slightly by chosing a matching welt versus the previous dark blue welt.
Spring installation allowed them to lose no time on the water.
Further pictures show Tiara Aft Seat Covers on a different Harbor Springs boat. The owners chose to upgrade their cover material to Stamoid Light for easier maintenance and sharper appearance.
Engine Hatch Cover
This project was a total engine hatch cover replacement, with no old cover to use as a guide. We patterened for a new plywood base, but plastic is also an option. We cut new foam and finished the project with marine vinyl to match the existing upholstery.
Again, the work was able to be completed over the winter while the boat was in storage.
